Midwife - Led antenatal education designed to prepare you for labour, birth, feeding and newborn life while helping you find your village.

  • Understanding the stages of labour and how to recognize when it begins.

  • Optimal positions to encourage a smoother birth.

  • Natural coping mechanisms, including breathing techniques, hypnobirthing basics, and massage.

  • The role of the birth partner and how they can actively support you

  • Exploring all forms of pain relief, from water birth to epidurals.

  • Understanding medical interventions (like induction, assisted delivery, or caesarean sections) so you feel prepared, not scared.

  • Navigating your maternity rights and advocating for your preferences.

  • Comprehensive, judgment free guidance on responsive feeding.

  • Breastfeeding basics: achieving a comfortable latch, different feeding positions, and establishing your milk supply.

  • Expressing milk and safe formula/bottle feeding practices.

  • How to tell if your baby is getting enough milk and where to find extra support.

  • Hands on basics for the fourth trimester: nappy changing, dressing, and holding your baby.

  • Safe sleep guidelines (Lullaby Trust recommendations) and setting up a safe sleep space.

  • Bathing, skin care, and umbilical cord care.

  • Techniques for soothing a crying baby and understanding newborn sleep patterns.

  • Understanding normal newborn behaviors versus symptoms to watch out for.

  • How to safely check your baby’s temperature.

  • Recognising "red flag" symptoms (like rashes, dehydration, or breathing changes).

  • Knowing exactly when, how, and who to contact for medical advice (e.g., your midwife, GP, or emergency services).
